iBOM: a platform for intelligent business operation management by Malú Castellanos et al

ABSTRACT

As IT systems get increasingly sophisticated and company processes become more automated, business managers want enhanced control over operations and their alignment with organizational objectives. This paper delineates iBOM, a business operation management platform created by HP, which enables users to i) assess operations from a business standpoint and manage them in alignment with business objectives; ii) establish business metrics, conduct sophisticated analyses to ascertain the causes of unfavorable metric values, and forecast future values; and iii) enhance operations to elevate business metrics. A crucial element is that all this capability is easily accessible with a few clicks of the mouse. The work’s description originates from certain needs leading to the formulated answer. We further illustrate that the platform is truly versatile, as seen by its application in sectors beyond finance.
